Classes beginning in the Fall semester continue through the Spring. As needed, new classes are formed in the Spring to accommodate growth. (Please note that enrollment in the courses is closed after four weeks of instruction, as we have found it to be unfair to the class and the new student to try and accommodate the late enrollment.)
Jackie Troup Miller "Tips on Tap": Tap dancing is composed of rhythmical sounds made by movements of the feet. It develops an alert, quick thinking mind which also dancers achieve a sense of rhythm, timing and phrasing.
Ballet promotes a beautiful, strong and healthy body and contributes to the development of good posture, poise and grace. Tap develops a sense of rhythm and promotes an ease of movement through coordination of the entire body.
Jazz promotes good posture and technique as well as a sense of rhythm by blending ballet and tap into a less classical, less restricted form of dance. We offer many different levels for all ages and abilities.
William Shakespeare wrote 'All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players'. This class promotes proper diction and self confidence while teaching basic skills in conveying emotion through facial expression, body language and vocal intonation.
We are happy to create new classes when a group of similar students wish to enroll together to pursue common interest. An example of this is our Family Tap Class, suggested by one of our parents as a way to interest her sons in tap instruction. We had not done such a class before; but, we are now happy to include it in our offerings.
The Performing Company is made up of students desiring more opportunities to further their skills and talents benefit local charities/benefits, and bring the art of dance to those who otherwise might not have access.
